Aziza Butler is a Chicago native raised on the south side of Chicago as a middle of five children to two incredible parents. She was raised within the loving community of her childhood churches, Reformation Lutheran Church and Covenant Faith Church of God, where she first realized her strong passion for joyful service, helping others and enriching the lives of all through various youth leadership opportunities. As a middle school student, her heart was radically transformed by God’s Word and she dedicated her life to relationship with and the mission of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Her Elementary Education degree started at the University of Virginia in 2004 and ended at DePaul University in 2008. In addition to traditional church ministry, Aziza has served in various leadership roles through organizations including Impact Ministry and the Mikva Challenge. Together with her older sister, Essence, they started a mentoring program for Englewood teen girls (Virtuous Girls). As a mom, Aziza served as Coordinator for MOPS at Beverly supporting, equipping and inspiring moms in their journey of motherhood and womanhood. Outside of employed hours, she has deeply enjoyed serving families, volunteering on various political campaigns, serving and advocating for the less fortunate, organizing and participating in community events and speaking engagements.
Before transitioning to becoming a homeschool family and founding WeSchool Academy (a learning center to support home-based learning) she taught as a classroom elementary teacher both in Chicago Public Schools and a private Christian school, Master’s Academy. Her passion for education extends beyond the classroom, as she enthusiastically studies and teaches Biblical studies to people of all ages and backgrounds. She became an ordained Teacher at Chicago Embassy Church in 2019; commissioned to equip believers in understanding and applying Biblical concepts to their personal lives.
Aziza currently homeschools their four energetic and fun-loving children, Azaria (9), Corban (8), Azadi (5), and Christopher Anthony (4), serves as council director of Family Life at CECN, works as Founder/Lead Teacher of WeSchool, and takes tremendous joy in being wife of 14 years to her favorite person in the world, Chris Butler!
